Peace is the Way

Nancy Sky

“There is no way to peace. Peace IS the way.” A.J. Muste

I have been following the Oprah/Deepak 21 day meditation (and actually loving it) and Deepak shared the following this morning (paraphrased):

To practice a life of peace:

1. Start from a place of respect for everyone and look for common ground
2. Don’t voice anger unless you absolutely have to
3. Uplift and acknowledge others rather than criticize them
4. In the presence of daily conflict walk away

Don’t make peace the goal. Start from peace.

Yes, start there.

The right message always comes at the right time.

I look for common ground working in clinic. Working with chronic pain and addiction, though, means not walking away from speaking up, from saying no, from saying “I am worried.” or “I cannot prescribe because it is not safe, but I can help you go inpatient.”
