Last evening was magical. I didn’t expect it to be so. It started out as somewhat of an obligation, if I’m to be truly honest. A work-related event where our attendance was expected. We have many of these and I’m grateful for each of them because they indicate a thriving, joyful community. Sometimes, though, my time is precious and I don’t want to give it away or share it. So with a small amount of reluctance we attended a garden party.
It was magical.
The people were relaxed, the music delightful, the food tempting. Old friends and new were there and I found it nice to be there and not “be working”. Others had that covered so Dan and I were simply able to enjoy ourselves. How rare it was!
But, look here – this was the truly magical part:
You see, the whole evening revolved around this. It was a Moonflower Concert with our favorite local country singer (and avid fan of Unity North Atlanta), Cindy Lou Harrington. At 8:45 (every evening on the dot) these beautiful Evening Primroses begin to open. One by one until the plant looks like this…
…and then they begin to drop and die only to begin again the next evening.
Now, that’s magical. That is Mother Earth. Always surprising us. Always delighting us. Always changing.
Infused with simple magic…
I am grateful – again and always – for the people that bring unexpected magic into my life.
From my heart to yours, Diane
